OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The Horst Brandstätter Group takes responsibility for a sustainable future. That is why we have anchored sustainability as an integral part of our corporate strategy, thus contributing to the preservation of our earth and its resources for future generations.

Sustainability is a long-term path for our group of companies - and a decisive answer to the question of how we will live, work and do business in the future. This includes an active contribution to environmental protection as well as a diverse commitment in the social field.

We need to understand our world in order to be able to shape it positively. In our business areas, we create many offers that provide inspiration for further development - combined with a holistic view of people and systems.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD HOLISTICALLY

OUR UNDERSTANDING OF SUSTAINABILITY

Our offers, products and services stand for a sustainable contribution.

That is why we need to recognise and understand important connections in our world. Because a holistic view is crucial to acting in a truly sustainable way.

For our products, we consider all stages of production and the entire life cycle. All framework conditions and parameters must be taken into account - from use and social impact to disposal.

WE NEED A SYSTEMIC VIEW OF THE WORLD

Our world consists of many complex systems. Our ecosystem, but also economic or social systems, are dynamically interconnected. An eye for detail is just as important as seeing the big picture and the question of how different systems influence each other. We deal with this intensively and derive concrete possibilities for action.

Economic and social systems in interaction

OUR OPERATIONAL APPROACH

We see ourselves as a learning organisation and face challenges, contradictions and different goals in order to find a successful path.

Our actions as a group of companies are guided by a systemic approach (learn more), which is advocated by many scientists. We thus ensure that we always view the areas of environment, society and economy in context - i.e. as a socio-ecological system.

Eight important sustainability principles serve as inspiration for innovation and new projects in our group of companies. We see these principles a guide for all activities - in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Our holistic approach builds several bridges: a substantive one between science, political goals and corporate visions, and a mental one between the reality of today's everyday life and intelligent action plans for tomorrow.

System Value

OUR UNDERSTANDING OF VALUE CREATION

Sustainable business requires a holistic view. Economic, social and ecological systems interlock and influence each other. For sustainable value creation, we are guided by eight principles within our business eco-system. Click on the icons in the graphic to learn more.

Meaning-Making

We provide impetus for people to find meaning for themselves or in community, whether through personal projects or social commitment. Our group, its brands and its products offer many possibilities for identification.

Health

We create conditions for people that promote their health. This applies to our services and products as well as to our operational processes. All work processes are regularly checked for safety. We offer good working conditions that enable a healthy work-life balance.

Influence

We help to ensure that people can participate. This includes supporting freedom of expression and personal engagement. To this end, we are in dialog with various stakeholder groups.

Resource Protection

To meet its energy needs, humankind is extracting enormous resources from the earth - in quantities and at rates that exceed the regenerative capacities of the ecosystems. Whether it's fossil fuels, water or rare earths. Fossil combustion releases harmful emissions. This is why the principle of resource protection is imperative for the future. There must be no further environmental pollution through the systematic extraction of resources. To realize this, the use of renewable energies, for example, is crucial.

Synthetic Materials

Many innovations lead to synthetic substances entering nature, with negative effects on our eco-systems. Thus in the future any further environmental pollution from the production, use and recycling of synthetic substances must be avoided. It must be ensured that no new potentially harmful substances enter the environment. To achieve this, we are working, for example, on the evaluation of alternative materials for our products and on the introduction of a product take-back system.

Competence

We help people to develop individually or in community. To this end, we offer a variety of inspirational activities - personal, playful, educational.

Ecosystem Protection

Natural ecosystems are negatively affected by human activity. Jungle clearing, monocultures, land sealing or landfills lead to serious problems in nature and wildlife. The goal for all stakeholders must therefore be to support the development of nature and not to impair the ecosystem through their own operational processes. This includes ecological compatibility in construction and conversion planning, the use of organic raw materials, but also the responsible use of water. It must be ensured that there is no danger to nature or wildlife from products. We are working on a zero-waste strategy and are examining the conditions of organic raw materials and how they are produced.

Impartiality

We support people in forming an unbiased picture of the world. Our products and services help people meet each other without prejudice and without any form of discrimination. This applies to us in the company as well as to society.
